Latvia RX included in DiRT Rally 2.0

The Season 2 DLC pack of DiRT Rally 2.0 is only a part of a growing focus that Codemasters is giving to rallycross as the DiRT franchise titles go on, and the latest one this focus went to tracks, with the latest release being the Bikernieki National Sports Base at Riga, Latvia.

The Latvia RX home is a 1,295 kilometer long track set in what is commonly a sportscar venue, as the rallycross circuit is settled in the heart of the complex. Like the main race track, the purpose built rallycross track goes through the forest area around there, being a 60% asphalt and 40% gravel, and with the gravel part being in the middle of the woods, it gives quite an open rally feel to it.

Due to it being included in 2016, in between the DiRT Rally and DiRT 4 releases, its inclusion in DIRT Rally 2.0 makes it the first time of the circuit in the virtual side. Also, Bikernieki is a break from the wave of circuits built in FIA Grade 1 circuits that’s taking World RX recently, with the other case being the Killarney Circuit in Cape Town, South Africa.

As for its characteristics, despite being a really technical circuit like Barcelona or Silverstone’s SpeedMachine, Bikernieki has some kind of a flow that favors full-throttle exits, which is the most exciting part of a rallycross supercar. The gravel section is really slippery despite being quite compact, and with the barriers being close to you like a street circuit, forget late breaking on loose areas or else you will be one step closer to the armco.

Correct timing is king in all areas, as this can allow you to powerslide through turns, even in the slowest and tightest of them. Other point where you need to consider a better cornering is that some of the turns can trick you into going off the correct speed or steering angle, and you don’t want to do an embarrassing crash into the barriers like the one that ruined Petter Solberg's Q3 run in 2016, right?
