HubAuto confirms drivers for 24 Hours of Spa effort

Asia will have its fair share of entries confirmed in the TOTAL 24 Hours of Spa, with Blancpain GT Series contenders facing off the Intercontinental GT Challenge lot, and HubAuto Corsa is one of the teams that will make the trip from Far East to Belgium, again with a star lineup.

The team’s Ferrari 488 GT3 will stay with Nick Foster in the lineup, but in fact he will be the only man that will follow his campaign in the No. 27 car, as he had fellow countrymen Tim Slade and Nick Percat, along with Spaniard Miguel Molina in the first two rounds. Slade and Molina were especially helpful to the team, contributing to their first IGTC victory at the California 8 Hours at Laguna Seca, but with SMP Racing having Molina confirmed and Slade and Percat having Australian Supercars commitments, the substitutes were necessary.

The other two places in the team will be filled by Super GT ace Nick Cassidy and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Daniel Serra, who add lots of experience in GT racing to keep the entry as a mighty contender.

Super GT champion Cassidy is in the way to become a legend in Japan, as the 24 years old New Zealander Has titles in Formula 3 Japan and in the GT500 class in Super GT. In 2018, he came close to a double in Japanese soil, finishing as a runner-up in both Super GT and Super Formula.

Though his achievements with GT500 machinery are remarkable, he only stepped into GT3 racing this year, with an appearance in the ROLEX 24 in a Lexus RC F GT3, though this isn’t expected to represent an issue.

Serra on the other hand comes with some good mileage in GT3 machinery, especially in the Ferrari 488 GT3, as this year he is racing regularly on it with Via Italia Racing in Endurance Brasil, being a strong contender not only for GT3 class wins but also for overall honors.

Serra also goes back to Spa with unfinished business, as he was with WRT last year but couldn’t turn a lap in the race as the No. 17 Audi retired before his stint.

While Cassidy has no class on the weekend with Super GT or Super Formula, Serra will certainly miss the Endurance Brasil 3 Hours of Velopark, as the Brazilian race is exactly in the July 27th weekend, as is the 24 Hours of Spa.
