TianShi Racing joins Blancpain GT Asia

Once an endurance racing regular, TianShi Racing changes its focus to sprint racing during the 2019 season, as the Chinese team will field a single entry in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, keeping its partnership with Audi Sport.

The car to be fielded is naturally the latest spec Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo, acquired during the final rounds of the 2018-2019 Asian Le Mans Series season, and will feature Chen Weian and André Couto as the drivers, competing in the Silver Cup.

TianShi Racing comes to the Blancpain GT scene after devoting itself to the Asian Le Mans Series since 2017, having used three different iterations of Audi GT3 machinery in the GT class, though it hasn’t victory there, having seen former Blancpain GT competitor Team AAI get it in 2017-2018 and recently being behind a perfect season of Blancpain GT Asia race winner CarGuy Racing in 2018-2019, though the competitiveness of their pair of Audis was there.

Chen is part of this move to Blancpain GT Asia from the Asian LMS, being a full time part of the team during the last two seasons they got into and is a well known presence in the Audi R8 LMS Cup in Asia, while Couto has a Macau Grand Prix win, a Suzuka 1000 and a GT300 class title in Super GT, and outside of that, he is a driver with multiple talents, having being part of the Blancpain GT Asia in 2018 with Bentley Team Absolute.

TianShi Racing will be the third team confirmed for the upcoming season, alongside newcomers from JRM and the return of Absolute Racing with a multi-factory big program.
