MC Tubarão switches to MetalMoro AJR for 2019 season

MC Tubarão is a squad known for having a hugely hands-on approach in both Endurance RS and Endurance Brasil, especially in the P1 class, though customer racing was there at some point. Now this extends to the top level effort as their line of home built prototypes gives place to a MetalMoro AJR for the upcoming Endurance Brasil season.

The new prototype will inherit the Chevrolet LS3 V8 engine from the MC Tubarão IX that was used until December of 2018, and the car will benefit from the fact that the current driver lineup of the No. 5 will be kept for 2019, as Tiel Andrade and Julio Martini will share the driving duties. Some Endurance Brasil class wins and an overall win along with titles in the 12 Hours of Tarumã give more than enough credit to the duo, and also, Andrade and Martini have versatility in their history as both race actively in both prototype and touring cars.

The 2018 for MC Tubarão was spent trying to reach the level of the JLM Racing MetalMoro AJRs and take advantage of their reliability issues, and being the best out of the AJR pack wasn’t enough to get the P1 class title, though the situation is expected to improve dramatically with the MetalMoro machine.

The 2019 Endurance Brasil season will start at Curitiba on March 30th, and along with the P1 class effort, the No. 32 MC Tubarão MRX will be back in the P2 class with Mauro Kern and Paulo Sousa, who conquered the 12 Hours of Tarumã in 2017.
