ROWE Racing switches to Porsche and confirms return to Blancpain GT

ROWE Racing remains firm to its trust in local machinery, but after spells with Mercedes and BMW, the German team does a manufacturer switch again, this time going with Porsche to a new Blancpain GT Series season.

The idea along with the manufacturer switch is along with a reduced program in the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup, running a single model of the new 911 GT3R for the whole season while a second car will take part of the 24 Hours of Spa, as both entries will rely on the young guns and seasoned professionals who are part of the Porsche works roster.

The full season car will feature Matt Campbell and Dennis Olsen, both recently graduated in the Porsche works ladder, while expert Dirk Werner completes the lineup, who by coincidence left BMW for Porsche in 2017, with the upcoming season being his third with the Stuttgart manufacturer.

The lineup for Spa only will be filled with stars coming from the Le Mans ranks, as Patrick Pilet and Frederic Makowiecki will join Le Mans 24 Hours winner Nick Tandy, and with the trio having won the 2018 12 Hours of Sebring in the GTLM class, they know a thing or more about grueling races like the 24 Hours of Spa.

ROWE Racing is a Blancpain GT member since 2015, first entering with Mercedes and then appearing with BMW, having a win in the 2016 24 Hours of Spa as the biggest feat, and in its last year running the BMW M6 GT3 it saw another car from the Bavarian marque get the Spa trophy, with this being Walkenhorst Motorsport, which is receiving more support from BMW this season.

The 2019 Blancpain GT season starts on April 14th at Monza.
