Black Falcon retakes Barcelona win and Blancpain GT Endurance Cup titles

After more than a month of indecision about the final result of the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup finale at Barcelona, the No. 4 Black Falcon Mercedes AMG GT3 regains the overall win, initially lost due to disqualification, and with this the team also regains the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup drivers and teams titles.

The whole problem came out after the race, when the No. 4 car was discovered with self-adhesive tape in its air inlet tract, which wasn’t in compliance with the car homologation and could have been seen as an advantage. As an initial measure, the car was disqualified, and this promoted the No. 88 AKKA-ASP Mercedes to the win and gave the titles to the French team and to Raffaele Marciello.

Though the technical infringement was confirmed by the RACB Sport National Court of Appeal, which was in charge of the case, the initial result of the race was reinstated, and a fine of 5.000 Euros was issued to Black Falcon due to the non-compliant tape, and the German team announced that they will not appeal against the fine.

With the initial result reinstated, not only Black Falcon retains the teams title, and Yelmer Buurman, Maro Engel and Luca Stolz are crowned as drivers champions of the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup.
