Heikkinen joins Subaru for ARX finale

Finnish driver Toomas Heikkinen is set for a return to rallycross in the United States as he will be the third driver for Subaru Rally Team USA in the final event of the Americas Rallycross Championship season at the Circuit of the Americas.

Heikkinen will drive the third Subaru WRX STi that has seen some driver rotation during the season as Jacques Villeneuve, David Higgins and Travis Pastrana were at the wheel in previous events while Patrik Sandell and Chris Atkinson were in full time duties with the other two cars, with Sandell being in the highest position as he lies in third with 58 points.

Along with the return to the USA, Heikkinen is also returning to the COTA after participating of the 2014 X Games there, by coincidence being Sandell’s team mate, though at that time they were racing the Olsbergs MSE Fiesta ST RX cars and the Subarus being the opponents, though unfortunately neither of the Subaru drivers at that time will be on track with him. Even though he had a test with Subaru Rally Team USA, he said that practically everything in ARX will be new to him.

The final event of the ARX season will be held on September 29th as part of the World RX of USA bill.
