DiRT Rally 2.0 confirmed for February 2019 release

Codemasters finally made the announcement that most of the DiRT Rally fanbase was waiting for, which is the confirmation of a sequel of the hardcore rally game, which will be called DiRT Rally 2.0, taking some doubts away of those with expectations on a new title that’s more geared towards simulation than the main DiRT series.

The announcement took place on many social media platforms, mainly with a short video promoting the new title, which showed different rally cars and rallycross supercars being thrown around in different places.

The rally part of DiRT Rally 2.0 will take place in six different countries, as Australia and Argentina, which are shown in the video, are joined by Poland, New Zealand Spain and USA. The rallycross side continues with the FIA World Rallycross Championship licensing, but this time it will recreate the 2018 championship with all cars that entered on it and more locations, with eight circuits confirmed and the video showing clearly that Trois-Rivières will be present, being along with Montalegre, Lohéac, Hell and Höljes, while Barcelona, Mettet, Trois-Rivières and Silverstone will make a debut in the DiRT franchise.

On the machinery side, the rally side will again have a broad range of classes, with Group B, Group A, R5, R4 and many others, which will include R-GT and curiously even the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R. The rallycross side will feature the Supercars and Supercar Lites, while other classes remain unconfirmed, with a total count of 50 cars spread between the two disciplines.

Codemasters stated that a new authentic handling model is in place to come to DiRT Rally 2.0, with tire choice and surface degradation also included, which may bring the feel that gave the title of “Dark Souls of racing games”, due to the huge curve between frustration and satisfaction, depending on how you tamed the cars. As for the career itself, most of the elements present in DiRT Rally and DiRT 4 will appear in DiRT Rally 2.0, which will make it a more fulfilling experience compared to the original game.

There’s also a Deluxe Edition available, and those getting DiRT Rally 2.0 will receive a bunch of things, including unlocked cars like the Prosche 911 R-GT, upgraded My Team cars, more tracks, more rewards and bonuses in the game as being given a four day early access, with the action starting on February 22nd.

DiRT Rally 2.0 will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and XBox One, with pre-order already available.
