Spirit of Le Mans DLC released for Project CARS 2

The latest DLC pack for Project CARS 2 couldn’t come in a more convenient moment, as the Spirit of Le Mans DLC brings past and present together some days before the real 24 Hours of Le Mans.

We can say that this DLC is basically separated in two years: 2016 and 1971, with the addition of the 2016 LMP1 class plus the main prototypes that raced in the 1971 race, and as a bonus for the vintage lineup, a 1971 version of the Circuit de la Sarthe, to make it even more classic. The track quite different and way much faster than the modern counterpart, as it was after 1971 that the track started receiving modifications to slow down the faster cars and make it a safe place to race.

That version of the circuit also became famous as a giant scenario for the movie Le Mans, an absolute classic when it comes to movies about racing.

From the 1971 side we have the Porsche 917 LH joining the short-tailed relative in Vintage Prototype A group, but as it was at the time, the rivals from the Ferrari side appear in two forms of the 512 model: the 512 S and the 512 M, with the M version being an “evolution” of the S version. Of the prototypes of the group, only the 917 LH was an purpose-built car, as the aerodynamic revisions in the car had only Le Mans in mind.

The 2016 side has only the hybrid powered entries, in what was the last year of the factory trio racing together, all of them already under the 1000 hp cap that was imposed by the FIA and ACO in order to also slow down the cars. Porsche appears with the championship winner 919 Hybrid while Toyota is represented by the first version of the TS050 Hybrid machine, and Audi appears with the final iteration of the famous R18 e-tron Quattro, having even the livery which won the final WEC race of the brand in Bahrain. Curiously the R18 e-tron Quattro is the only car to have separate cars for the high and low downforce kits.

Outside these two themes, the Spirit of Le Mans pack features another two cars, the Porsche 924 Carrera GTP, some kind of one-off giant killer from the 80s, and the Porsche 961, a circuit racer that was a consequence of a short-lived Group B dream.

Also included are 10 eSports liveries and five career mode events, one of them being the 24 Hours of Le Mans itself. The DLC costs 9.99 Euros, but Season Pass holders will have it right away.
