Honda confirms factory lineup for Suzuka 10H

The Honda NSX GT3 was already confirmed to go in factory mode during the TOTAL 24 Hours of Spa, but the Japanese manufacturer will improve their game for the Suzuka 10 Hours, third round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The car will be under the Honda Team MOTUL banner, with a full pro factory lineup composed of the best that Honda has at home soil, with Super GT aces Naoki Yamamoto, Daisuke Nakajima and Hideki Mutoh behind the wheel of the NSX GT3 during the race.

Yamamoto has his name linked with Honda since the start of his career, either in single seaters or in sportscar racing, with a Super Formula title conquered in 2013 with Mugen and currently leading the Super GT’s GT500 class with former F1 driver Jenson Button in the Raybrig NSX GT of Team Kunimitsu.

Daisuke Nakajima has his blood ties with Le Mans winner Kazuki, but Daisuke also has strong ties with Honda and Nakajima Racing, the team that’s owned by his father Satoru Nakajima, with a lot of his career being spent there. Daisuke moved to Mugen recently in Super GT, and although his recent results in Super GT may not be that good, he is capable enough of a good drive.

Mutoh is the one who has more international experience of the trio, as he was an IndyCar racer for a good time, but his success came at home with GT300 class title in Super GT with the now defunct Honda CR-Z GT, the car that was essentially subbed by the NSX GT3, and his GT300 experience will be a point in his favor, even though the CR-Z and the NSX have completely different approaches.

The Suzuka 10 Hours will be held on August 26th, and Honda will count with Drago Corse and CarGuy Racing in the race alongside the Honda factory entry.
