Alex Wurz to join MJP Racing at Hell RX

The FIA World Rallycross Championship grid will see an illustrious driver join the grid in the Norwegian round at Hell as former F1 and LMP1 driver Alexander Wurz will be in the cockpit of one of the MJP Racing cars as part of their multi-race commitments with the championship.

Wurz will join the competition with MJP Racing owner Max Pucher competing in the other Ford Fiesta LionRX3 car and then forming an all-Austrian lineup for Hell RX, replacing Andrew Jordan and Toomas Heikkinen who will be in action for MJP at Silverstone on late May. It will be Wurz’s first event of course, but the former F1 and LMP1 driver won’t jump on rallycross out of nowhere, as he already had some tests with MJP Racing in Austria driving their 2017 season car, in what was more like a sample in the discipline at the time.

Alex Wurz also has rallycross heritage in the family as Franz Wurz, his father, had a long carrer in rallycross with three European titles, driving a Lancia Stratos, an Audi Quattro and Beetles, which included a Porsche powered one.

The cars and Max Pucher himself have a lot more mileage this year as both LionRX3 machines were in intense tests at Greinbach and Fuglau, and Pucher entered one of them in the Austrian Rallycross Championship.

The Hell RX will be on June 9th, but before this there will be the Silverstone RX at the Speedmachine circuit on May 25th.
