Olsbergs returns to World RX

One of the main names from the European rallycross scenario is returning to the FIA World Rallycross Championship as Olsbergs MSE presented this Wednesday (7) its program with two cars for the whole season and a bit more.

The campaign is set to be made with a pair of new spec Ford Fiestas, quite a trademark of the Swedish squad which conquered the Teams title in 2014 and missed the same title by a little in 2015, all while leaving some Fiestas and even their new Honda Civic Coupé up to negotiation for anyone wanting to buy or rent one of them for competition.

As for the lineup, the duo selected is completely different from the guys that were with OIsbergs ib 2014 as Kevin Eriksson and Robin Larsson were appointed as drivers. They will face one of the guys from the championship winning campaign this year as Andreas Bakkerud will be in the second EKS Audi S1, while Reinis Nitiss’ future is uncertain but probably geared to the Euro RX.

Being the kid raised at Olsbergs, Eriksson had excellent performances in the championships he drove with the squad, like the 2014 RX2 title and the recent RallyX On Ice title conquered last week, and in the World RX he has four participations in the finals, with one of them resulting in a sensational outside move that gave him the win at Estering.

Larsson was a strong independent entry that has an Euro RX title and five podiums during the four years he raced like this, with a win in the 2015 World RX of Argentina included. He dedicated himself to Euro RX due to lack of resources to go worldwide and was with Olsbergs as part of their RallyX On Ice squad.

Testing with the new spec Fiesta has already started and even the Honda Civic is present at the official World RX tests at Lohéac this week. As for the 2018 season, it starts on April 16th at Barcelona.
