MC Tubarão wins hotly contested 3 Hours of Guaporé

History almost repeated itself on a hot Saturday afternoon at Guaporé as the Endurance RS conpetitors gave their first race laps of the 2018 season, with the difference being that the No. 5 MC Tubarão of Tiel Andrade and Julio Martini didn’t have any major problems while the No. 71 SATTI Racing MCR was denied again of a home win.

With the race starting at noon on bright sunlight, the heat soon became a concern for the teams, and no side escaped of the task of managing temperatures to avoid overheating at a determined point of the race, while some drivers left their cars exhausted due to the temperatures of almost 30 degrees Celsius.

Between the 14-car strong grid, the NO. 5 MC Tubarão was fast to control the race and this kept going during the whole first hour while they had the No. 71 SATTI MCR running on similar lap times, with the No. 155 Ferrari 458 GT3 coming right behind, while the biggest progress was made by the No. 65 NC Racing MRX, coming from dead last and one lap behind to the sixth fifth position overall and third in class.

Then the MC Tubarão team lost time in the first pit stop and this was the opportunity for the No. 71 to attempt an attack in the No. 5, and the effort paid of dividends in the early moments of the second hour, with the home team then controlling the race while both cars were still with close pace.

In the final hour the challenge was conserving equipment while keeping it in good pace, and things were promising for the No. 71 SATTI MCR until the final 15 minutes, when an engine break denied them of the chance to fight for the win, then opening the way for the No. 5 MC Tubarão to cruise to the finish and win the race. By having completed almost the whole race, the No. 71 still appeared in second as the other P1 class cars were way behind.

The No. 56 Motorcar MRX of Rafael and Gustavo Simon made an impeccable race and not only won in the P3 class but also conquered the second position overall, with the podium being completed by the No. 155 Ferrari 458 GT3 of Peter Ferter and Ricardo Mendes, despite some lost time in the pits in the final moments. The No. 7 Sette Car MCR-Honda topped the P2 class with Aldoir Sette and Ney Faustini, while the GT4 class was won by the No. 10 Lamborghini Gallardo of Pierre Ventura and Telmo Tecchio.

The next Endurance RS round will be only on July 21st at Tarumã, with the Endurance Brasil starting on April 28th at Curitiba.
