Oliver Eriksson is the first RallyX On Ice winner in 2018

Rallycross is one of those disciplines in motorsport that doesn’t know the meaning of off-season, with tarmac, gravel and mud being replaced by pure white snow in the RallyX On Ice series. The start was at Östersund, Sweden, and home boy Oliver Eriksson powered to victory in a highly contested event.

In The first semifinal Oliver Eriksson had the early lead being followed by Kevin Eriksson with Austin Cindric trying to hold Conner Matell for third. While the Erikssons were settled in their, Cindric had a damage in the left rear wheel that sent him into a wild crash into the snowbank, ending his race.

Kevin Eriksson then saw Martell chasing him and started pushing more, but this came with a price as a wrong maneuver sent him to a spin and a stop, gifting Martell with the second place. Oliver Eriksson crossed the finish line with ease while Martell came second and Jarni Kalliomäki got the third place with Kevin Eriksson’s retirement.

In the second semifinal Alexander Westlund started well and commanded the early stages but had the pressure of Ben-Philip Gundersen right behind, with some contact included. To Gundersen it was a case of waiting for a good opportunity to take the lead, which happened with 2 laps to go.

Gundersen was so fast that even after the Joker Lap he was on top, while Sondre Evjen took the second position of Robin Larsson after the Joker, with the early Joker proving to be the wrong move to Westlund, who ended in fourth place.

In the semifinal 3, Vasily Gryazin had the toughest of the jobs as he was holding the lead against Cyril Raymond, which he eventually succeeded, which gave him a margin to push and open the lead. Behind them, Hampus Rådström had quite aggressive means to deal with Alexander Lie, which guaranted the third place to Rådström.

Gryazin just pushed hard and settled for the win while Raymond finished in second, unable to counter the Russian, with Rådström coming home third.

The final was really heated as Oliver Eriksson won the battle with Vasily Gryazin for the lead and opened the gap. Eriksson was comfortable with his lead but Gryazin had to watch out as he had Sondre Evjen and Cyril Raymond behind him with the Joker already done.

Gryazin didn’t act well in his late Joker and gave the second and third positions Evjen and Raymond while Eriksson crossed the line, winning with ease.
