OD Racing was one of the teams showing the wonders of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 last year in the Blancpain GT Series Asia, and the Malaysian will return to the competition with an important partner to be a title contender from the go this year.
The new partner in question is no more than the Team WRT, a recognizer title lifter in the GT3 class and Audi’s top squad in the class, as it was always proven in the Blancpain GT Series in Europe and in the recently won Bathurst 12 Hour. The Belgian also has some nice relationship with Malaysia as they also have the Sepang 12 Hours in their rich list of achievements. With the partnership confirmed, the team adopts the name of OD Racing Team WRT for 2018.
OD Racing itself proved it could be a title contender as Mitch Gilbert and Aditya Patel drove the No. 86 Audi to a runner-up finish against a field where some of the top teams could rely on two cars like GruppeM Racing or CRAFT-Bamboo Racing. By the way, Gilbert is already confirmed for a return, but the second driver still needs to be confirmed.
The 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia season starts on April 14th amd 15th at Sepang and OD Racing will face heavy opposition right at home, as KCMG, Absolute Racing, CRAFT-Bamboo and other squads already announced two car efforts.
