Here comes Assetto Corsa Competizione, the official Blancpain GT game

The success of the GT3 class and of the Blancpain GT Series itself let sim racing fans wondering when an official installment based in the SRO championship could be released, and KUNOS Simulazioni will be in charge of bringing this to reality with Assetto Corsa Competizione, with the full series totally licensed.

The announcement came mainly on social media this Wednesday (21), as they revealed some preview pictures and gave some hints of content and features that will be available in the title. It is known that Assetto Corsa Competizione will have the whole content of both the Sprint and Endurance Cup, but with the other SRO championships growing strong and a certain focus being dedicated to the Intercontinental GT Challenge, it’s not unrealistic to think in a future inclusion.

The other highlight of Assetto Corsa Competizione is the change of their in-house built engine to adopt the Unreal Engine 4, which lets KUNOS Simulazioni make use of most of the graphical features that weren’t present in the first Assetto Corsa due to limitations of its engine, like dynamic weather conditions, a full 24-hour cycle and multiple sources of light, which lets you make use of headlights per example. The animation part will also receive special attention as motion capture will be used to make sure it will be at its finest.

Another promise from KUNOS Simulazioni is of advanced multiplayer features, which will come with a ranking system that will monitor and reward driver behavior and will bring cleaner online races at high level.

Assetto Corsa Competizione will be initially released on Steam by an Early Access program this Summer and KUNOS Simulazioni already announced that will be at the Misano round of the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup with preview copies of the title to be sampled by the fans.
