Emil Frey confirms Blancpain GT entry with Lexus RC F GT3

After a single event sample last year, Emil Frey Racing will bring the Lexus RC F GT3 for a full time program in the Blancpain GT Series, as two cars will be aligned in 2018 by what can be called a specialist in the competition.

Though Emil Frey Racing lacks the titles or even the race wins in Blancpain GT ground, they always had strong runs with the Emil Frey Jaguar G3, used in a full time basis until last year, while the RC F GT3 was used in the International GT Open and in the VLN championship at Nürburgring. The car was specially successful in GT Open with four wins in 2017, and this prompted the Swiss team to try their luck in the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup, aligning a car for Albert Costa and Stéphane Ortelli at the Nürburgring finale.

This season not only is a debut one for the Japanese car, but it’s also the first full season attack in the Sprint Cup for Emil Frey Racing, after staying focused in the Endurance Cup for various seasons, first with a single car Pro-Am entry then stepping up to the Pro Cup and even aligning two cars in the top class.

The future of the Jaguars remain under doubt, but with the increasing involvement of Lexus in Emil Frey Racing’s activities, they are highly unlikely to be seen in any other top-flight championship.
