Oliver Bennett will bring Mini back to World RX

After devoting his time entirely to the British Rallycross Championship, Oliver Bennett will expand his schedule and will join the FIA World Rallycross Championship for a partial campaign, with bigger possibilities in sight for the returning Mini brand.

The model of choice for Bennett and XITE Racing is the Mini Cooper S, which was revealed during the Autosport International past week, with Simpson Motorsport building the car and LD Motorsports doing the engineering support. Remembering that Liam Doran has good mileage in Mini RX machinery, getting X Games victories in his record, which is a key addition to the project.

The initial plans for Bennett will feature the European World RX rounds and the new World RX of USA at the Circuit of the Americas, though he is still gathering the necessary sponsorship to proceed to a full time campaign in 2018, so we can expect more than what’s on the cards.

The Mini Countryman RX was the first model to compete in the World RX with JRM in 2015 and 2016, with the best results being achieved with British drivers Liam Doran and Guy Wilks.
