Racing Team Nederland moves from ELMS to FIA WEC

The very first moves in regard of which teams will be in which classes in the FIA World Endurance Championship meant a reduction of entries in the LMP2 class as Rebellion and Manor moved to the LMP1 class, meaning less four cars in the second prototype tier, but an entry from Netherlands may be the initial step to not let these numbers go down.

The JUMBO sponsored Racing Team Nederland squad will make a move out of the European Le Mans Series to join the LMP2 grid in FIA WEC, which sets a milestone of being the first Dutch team to compete in the world championship since it started in 2012. This season was entirely spent in ELMS with the Dallara P217, with Le Mans ace Jan Lammers joining Frits van Eerd, and they also competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Rubens Barrichello being their third driver, with two top-10 finishes in the class.

Racing Team Nederland sets also the milestone of being the first full-time FIA WEC squad to not use an Oreca chassis, and with the Dallara P217 being one of the models listed in the Joker updates for 2018, things will probably get heated in terms of competition.

About the drivers for the new adventure, only van Eerd is confirmed in the car, with the other two drivers to be decided at a later date, but the remaining details will probably be revealed in the famous ACO Press Conference that announces the entries of its championships every season.
