BR Engineering BR1 LMP1 presented and already with a customer

In a matter of a few weeks the LMP1 class started to be filled with new entries and new cars, and this Friday at Bahrain it was revealed another car that will be present in the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season, being it the Dallara/BR Engineering BR1, combining the experience of both companies into prototypes and and racing in general.

Curious thing about the parts involved in the new BR1 prototype is that one somehow succeeded the other in the LMP2 scene, as BR Engineering was part of the past regulation set with their BR01 machine, used only by the SMP Racing team, while Dallara was chosen as one of the companies authorized to build cars according to the current LMP2 ruleset, which started this year and had SMP Racing making use if the new car as part of the partnership.

The BR1 already had its fair share of testing before the presentation in Bahrain with a cast composed by the signature SMP Racing drivers like Kyrill Ladygin and Mikhail Aleshin, with further tests and a 24-hour simulation are expected to happen.

And while in the presentation of the new car, BR Engineering boss Boris Rotenberg revealed that DragonSpeed will be campaigning a BR1 next season, being a total of 3 Russian prototypes on track for the Super Season as ART Grand Prix will do the running of the two SMP Racing entries confirmed, but unlike the home team, which will use AER engines, DragonSpeed will use Gibson power in its BR1. The American team will still receive the new car, and while that they still evaluate what tire will be used as well the third driver to make company to Ben Hanley and Henrik Hedman.
