Bentley presents new Continental GT3

A new Bentley Continental GT road car for 2018 also meant that the racing activities of the manufacturer would go to a new chapter as the new GT3 version of the machine was revealed this  Thursday (9), again a result of their partnership with the M-Sport company.

Compared to the first car, released in 2013 and being used until this year, there was a revamp in various areas of the car to deliver a better experience overall. It’s not only about the power reduction from 600 to 550 horsepower in their V8 twin turbo engine and also the clearly refined aero to improve downforce, but also the transmission, which changed from XTrac to Ricardo though still being a six-speed one, a more even weight bias for better balance, and lots of other details here and there.

The new design of the car is also an indication of the changes in the intake and exhaust systems, which along with an improved intercooler will hold operational temperatures in a level good enough to bring the best performance of the Continental GT3.

Bentley took the opportunity of the car launch to uncover their intentions of where to compete in 2018, which initially means they will go for the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge on a full time basis, although the new Continental will miss the Bathurst 12 Hours and will debut only at the Monza round of the GT Endurance Cup, and participation in other championships will be according to the clients.
