OD Racing dominates Zhejiang Race 1

Wet weather can be a good test for which car and driver is better, and the Audi R8 LMS proved this in the first Blancpain GT Series Asia race at Zhejiang, with Mitch Gilbert and Aditya Patel bringing OD Racing to the top spot in a trouble-free performance.

Due to the wet condition of the track the best option was to try the track behind the Safety Car, but after two laps the action was on with Christopher Dreyspring in the No. 66 VSR Lamborghini defending from the No. 86 OD Racing Audi, and although everybody tried to keep their noses clean, the same can't be said to the No. 39 Spirit of Race Ferrari as the car swerved to the left and right to the barriers and to the impact, causing another Safety Car intervention.

It took around eight minutes to go green again and forcing a mistake was the way to go, as Aditya Patel proved by overtaking Dreyspring while dragging the No. 1 FFF Lamborghini along. Without any gap for overtaking the top-5 went early to pits while the No. 5 Audi Hong Kong kept a longer stint since Marchy Lee's lap times were the best on track.

The pit window didn't change much in the order but the No. 5 hit the spot with the longer stint by returning in third, which was lost a few minutes later to the No. 999 GruppeM Mercedes, putting the title hopes in a hard position. The Audi R8 LMS was better overall at Zhejiang, só the No. 86 OD Racing just had to stick to its pace to go for the win, with the No. 1 FFF Lamborghini coming home in second while the No. 999 GruppeM Mercedes completed the podium and was the Pro-Am winner thanks to a series of quick laps from Maximilian Buhk, which kept the No. 5 Audi Hong Kong at bay.

The No. 69 CMRT Eurasia Aston Martin won in the Am class and the No. 77 CRAFT-Bamboo Porsche dominated the GT4 class.
