Hoonigan and Ford set to leave the World RX

After two years of a partnership that had M-SPORT and Ford behind the Ford Focus RS RX of Hoonigan Racing Division, the team announced that all parties will leave the FIA World Rallycross Championship once the current season ends.

Ken Block and Andreas Bakkerud, the current drivers of the program, came on social media to announce the end of the commitment, while Dave Pericak, Director of Ford Performance, said it was time to take a break and move on.

The team leaves the championship with three wins in its debut season with Andreas Bakkerud, one of the only drivers who was able to put a fight to the Solberg-Ekström battle, and this put him on third in the standings, and the team had four other podiums in 2016. Even though Bakkerud still achieved four podiums this year, the Focus RS RX wasn't on par with the top runners to fight for a win, and while Block was often in the semifinals, he didn't go past of it in 2017.

As for the future, Block will now commit to his usual Gymkhana GRID events and videos, and next year he will switch to rallying again, with the new machine to be revealed soon. Bakkerud still has to sort out where he would go, as he is again left searching for a ride, like in the circumstances that let him made the move from Olsbergs MSE to Hoonigan.

Their final World RX event is the Cape Town RX in South Africa on November 10th.
