Go west with the World RX

In a surprise manner the newest track to become part of the FIA World Rallycross Championship was announced this Monday (23), in what will be the championship’s first visit to the United States, something that wasn’t that expected from a fan standpoint, even though it was a long time wish.

The World RX schedule normally comes close from America with the Canadian round at Trois-Rivières, but now not only the North America has two rounds from 2018 on but also it extends the worldwide characteristic of the championship, although it came at the expense of the second German round at Hockenheim that was shared with DTM, meaning that Estering and Buxtehude fans will still see the supercars live.

The venue that will hold the World RX of USA will be the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, with the plan being to build a proper permanent rallycross circuit in the area. This will be a first in the country, as although there is a established championship in the area, being it the Global Rallycross Championship, it always had provisional or semi-permanent circuits around its venues.

The Circuit of the Americas already held rallycross events before when the X Games visited the venue, with Andreas Bakkerud, Tanner Foust and Sebastian Eriksson as well many others being used to the Texan area and the World RX ambient.

The World RX of USA will be held on the end of September, being 2018 the first year of a contract which will last for five seasons.
