Stuttgart Motorsport Porsche dominates 3 Hours of Santa Cruz do Sul

The Stuttgart Motorsport squad had quite a dominant moment during the Chevrolet Absoluta 500 at Interlagos, and they pushed for the better as there was no opposition to the No. 20 Porsche 911 GT3R at the 3 Hours of Santa Cruz do Sul with Ricardo Maurício and Marcel Visconde commanding the show during the whole time.

Although Stuart Turvey in the No. 37 Scorpion tried an early challenge to the No. 20 Stuttgart Porsche, Ricardo Maurício countered it quickly, going back to the lead on Lap 2. Rain was a point to worry for the whole race and a shower at the start raised some concerns, but it ended in question of minutes. In between that, the No. 32 MC Tubarão had an engine failure and left the race early, bringing the first yellow flag, and the next problem was exactly with Stuart Turvey's Scorpion as the car's engine got fire, which was extinguished by the driver himself.

While the Porsche was in a race of its own, the main GP1 class players fought fiercely for second, as the No. 117 SPMEC MR18 took the place from the No. 31 Mottin Lamborghini. In the P3 class there was some epic stuff led by the No. 43 Motorcar MRX after a spin in the first corner, only to spin again and handle the top to the No. 8 Scuderia Macchina MRX, with the No. 69 MC Tubarão waiting to get into the fight and then effectively taking the top.

The clear evidence of the superiority of the No. 20 was when Ricardo Maurício lapped the overall second No. 110 DTR MR18 with an hour of racing, taken back once the Porsche stopped, and even on used tires the Stuttgart Motorsport car was lapping around three seconds faster than the opponents. Unlike the GP1 class, in P2 the No. 7 Sette Car MRX had its mirrors full with the No. 75 SPMEC MRX, holding it for around an hour, and after persisting só much, Fernando Ohashi finally found a way to pass the No. 7, and if the drama wasn't enough for the Honda-powered MRX, it suffered a failure near the pit entry after the halfway point and retired.

With an hour and 20 minutes to go more drama appeared as the second-placed No. 110 DTR MR18 had a broken brake disc when starting the braking movement at the end of the home straight, bringing the Safety Car again and leaving no effective opponents to the No. 20 Stuttgart Porsche. Although a bit shaken due to the crash, Eduardo Dieter was fine and left the car by his own.

With 30 minutes to go The No. 05 MC Tubarão IX stopped off track while on podium position, and after several attempts of Tiel de Andrade to find a way back, the car was towed with a damaged right front wheel, promoting the No. 71 SATTI MCR to the podium, and although reliability made the car go far, the lack of power of its spare engine couldn't hold the No. 117 SPMEC MR18, losing the overall podium in the process, with the No. 65 NC Racing MRX staying in its lone and safe second place overall. The MC Tubarão crew worked as fast as possible to fix the No. 05 and it got back to track with 20 minutes to go.

Without any interferences on track, Ricardo Maurício just had to cruise to the finish with the No. 20 Porsche, with the No. 65 NC Racing MRX finishing in second and the No. 117 SPMEC MR18 completing the podium. The No. 75 SPMEC MRX won the highly contested P2 class against the No. 3 Fibralex/GTA Tornado, while P3 class honors went to the No. 69 MC Tubarão VIII as it held the No. 8 Scuderia Macchina MRX. In the touring side the GT1 class win was conquered by the No. 17 Mottin Sonic Stock Car and GT2 and T class stayed with the single entries of each, the No. 39 Volvo and the No. 88.
