Injured Tréluyer is a major setback for Audi at Nürburgring

Audi Sport Team Joest will have a tougher race to deal with one of its cars, as Frenchman Benoit Tréluyer will not be present in the 6 Hours of Nürburgring, fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

According to Audi, Tréluyer sustained spinal injury after a mountain bike ride, and although it wasn’t huge, it left the three time Le Mans winner out of action at least for the German round of the competition. This setback will leave the No. 7 R18 e-tron Quattro with Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fässler at the wheel, with no replacement for the driver being announced, as most of the possible names that could enter as a substitute are in preparation for the 24 Hours of Spa to be held at the end of the month too.

The No. 7 Audi currently sits in 4th place in the LMP1 standings with 35 points, 19 points away from 3rd placed No. 6 Toyota Gazoo Racing car.
