Photo of the weekend

This guy couldn't be happier at the moment.

The photo is from Sportsland SUGO, Japan, where Super Formula rookie Tomoki Nojiri won his first race as well his first points in the 2014 season of Japan's top formula championship.

Nojiri made the most safe race possible from start to finish, in a race that had everything, especially in the crash department, with three japanese motorsport stars knocking out themselves right after the second corner: João Paulo de Oliveira, Andre Lotterer and Takuya Izawa. No injuries occured, although Oliveira had a scary moment with the cars of Lotterer and Izawa going above his helmet.

In the end of the race, Nojiri was behind Naoki Yamamoto and Yuichi Nakayama, but then Yamamoto got out of the fight because of his pit strategy, as he was forced to pit. Same destiny suffered Nakayama, as he was trying to go to the finish without a visit to the pits, but without fuel he needed to do a splash & go, opening the way for Nojiri to receive the checkered.

Curiously, from second to fourth, we had only FIA WEC racers placed: second was Kazuki Nakajima, third was Loic Duval and fourth was James Rossiter.

The next, and final round of the 2014 Super Formula season will be a double-header to be held at Suzuka, on November 8th & 9th.
