And the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP comes back home after a hard fought victory in Continental Tire Road Race Showcase, held at the Road America circuit for the TUDOR United Sportscar Championship.
The portuguese-speaking duo of João Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi held off the challenge of the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ford Riley DP of Ozz Negri and John Pew and the No. 1 Extreme Speed Motorsports HPD ARX-03b of Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel, in a caution-filled race that was almost ruined for the No. 5 car as they were rammed and spun by title contenders No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP. But the pack of Full Course Yellows, allied to advantadges got by a different pit strategy in the final minutes put the once-in-the-lead car into top spot again.
The next round of the United Sportscar Championship will be at Virginia International Raceway, but the Prototype class returns only at the Circuit of the Americas for the Lone Star Le Mans event, shared with FIA World Endurance Championship.
