Cadillac GT3 expected in 2015

Cadillac seems to be paving the way to replace the illustrous CTS-V.R model for a FIA GT3-spec one.

The CTS-V.R is still competitive and fighting for the title of the Pirelli World Challenge, but the idea of bringing full FIA GT3-spec machinery to the sprint championship brought some tough opposition to the Caddy, that seems to be struggling a bit to get into the front pack. This, added to the fact that this generation of CTS-V.R has been running since 2011 and is Pirelli World Challenge-only vehicle may have made Pratt & Miller and GM think on a new ride.

The new car, that will be based on the ATS model, has faced some testing at the Gingerman track in Michigan and is expected to go to competition in 2015, and first details point to a rear wheel-drive car with a twin turbo V6 engine.

And, depending of GM, the ATS GT3 may not go out of America. This is because Callaway Competition has received green light to put its effort into the new Corvette C7.R GT3, that is supposed to be Europe-only, so the ATS GT3 would have an American-based market.
