Acura TLX enters in the World Challenge

Good news coming from the Pirelli World Challenge front, as a new car hits the road this weekend to join the horde of luxury and speedy models that's been part of the championship this year.

Starting with the confirmed car, Mid-Ohio round of Pirelli World Challenge will witness the debut of the new Acura TLX-GT model on the GT class. The car was announced early this year to be part of the growing american sprint championship, and after passing the test schedule, it'll be ready to drive in the Mid-Ohio double header, with focus on a full season campaign in 2015.

The TLX-GT will feature a twin-turbocharged V6 engine developed by HPD, and based on the production TLX road going version. Another peculiarity of the new Acura racer is that it is an all-wheel drive car, as opposed to the rear-wheel drive FIA GT3 entrants.

The team that will take the task of run this beast is RealTime Racing, that has a long history with Honda models on the World Challenge, as they used models like the NSX and the TSX in past years. The team has worked with HPD on the development of the TLX-GT, and its owner, Peter Cunningham, will be the driver of the sole No. 42 entry this weekend.
