Hey, Goiânia...

And one more time the hopes will be raising for top-class racing other than F1 to land here in Brazil, as discussions to include a brazilian round in the Blancpain Sprint Series(past-known as FIA GT Series) are going underway.

In the past years, Brazil lost IndyCar as the São Paulo event commitment wasn't renewed and the GPs in other venues like the streets of Porto Alegre and Brasília's Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet didn't came into fruition, although the Brasília still generates expectation. Brazil lost too the WTCC round held at Curitiba, as the Race of Argentina took brazilian slot in the calendar.

The plan, suggested by Antonio Hermann, owner of BMW Sports Trophy Team Brasil entry, is to bring Sprint Series to Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia, which recently had extensive renovation of its structure, possibly in the start or in the end of the season. SRO's Stéphane Ratel is supportive of the idea, as well the Belgian Audi Club WRT boss Vincent Vosse, with the main concern being the costs to bring everything to Brazil.

If approved, it won't the first time that an international event host by SRO comes to brazilian lands, as in 1996 the BPR Global GT Series did two exhibition races at Curitiba and Brasília, both won by Nelson Piquet and Johnny Cecotto Sr.
