McLaren shows a new racer

Although McLaren has a relatively young and competitive GT3 car, the well-known MP4-12C has a successor for 2015.

Taking the good atmosphere of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the renowned brand has presented the 650S GT3 to the public, taking the experience acquired from the MP4-12C to create a more refined model, and even resembling the past one, and as the images show.

The main points to notice of the 650S GT3 comparing to the 12C are new carbon-fibre bodywork and rear wing, as well a new nose, reworked side intakes, revised suspension, with a wider track, and new wheels and tyres. The inside of the 650S GT3 has a new roll cage, as well a new race seat and a Formula 1-inspired steering wheel.

In terms of propulsion, everything remains the same, but with updates to teh new model. The winning platform of the 500PS 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine and the 6-speed gearbox is still on the new car.

The car will have some tests this year to get on the road for competition purposes in 2015 with 15 models at hand to the customer. Estimated price will be at 350.000 euros, but if you don't have the bucks to trade from the MP4-12C to the 650S, don't worry: the MP4-12C will receive an upgrade kit, allowing the model to remain competitive.

After that I can say: 2015 will be interesting...
