The chinese attack at Le Mans

French chassis, japanese engine and chinese team and drivers. This is the mix that will be at Le Mans in June in the shape of the asian arm of OAK Racing, presented officially this monday in Shanghai, China.
Presentation of OAK Racing Team Asia Le Mans programme. The livery looks good on the new Ligier JS P2.

OAK Racing Team Asia, the reigning Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 champion, will feature a 100% chinese driver lineup in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and at the moment David Cheng, running in TUDOR United Sportscar Championship and with good ALMS Prototype Challenge class mileage, and Ho-Pin Tung, that raced in GP2, FIA GT1 and even IndyCar, are the confirmed drivers, and the third name will be known soon, given the fact the Journeé Test, the official 24 Hours of Le Mans tests, will be in early June.

And not only the drivers, but the machine is creating expectations too. The chinese team will be one of the teams that will use the Onroak Automotive's new LMP2 challenger, the Ligier JS P2, that will be pushed by a Honda engine.

They even made a Ligier JS P2 cake. I want that one!

Sad to know is the fact the Ligier-branded machine will run with OAK Racing Team Asia in Le Mans only, as the campaign in the 2014 Asian Le Mans Series season will be with the consolidated Morgan LMP2 that was used to conquer the title last year, but it's good to see that Asia is getting a bigger space in the most important endurance event.
